There are many advantages that come with having straight, properly aligned teeth; not only are they more beautiful, but they also tend to be more healthy and comfortable. An improper bite and crooked teeth can lead to future dental issues that can be painful and expensive to fix. For these reasons, board-certified dentist Dr. Brian Call is pleased to provide his patients access to the advanced Invisalign teeth straightening system. This service consists of removable clear aligners that gradually maneuver your teeth into their ideal positions.

Created from accurate 3D impressions and suited to meet your unique goals, Invisalign is frequently considered more comfortable and attractive than traditional metal braces. Another upside to the Invisalign system is that your aligners can be removed for easier, more effective cleaning. If you're interested in gaining a straighter, healthier, and more beautiful smile, reach out to our team at Oakridge Dental in Farmington, UT. At his office, Dr. Call treats patients from all over Davis County, as well as the neighboring cities of Ogden and Salt Lake City, UT.

There are several factors that may determine the alignment of your teeth: if you sucked your thumb, genetics, the loss of a tooth or teeth, and trauma to your face. Dental misalignment may cause other oral health concerns, such as dental malocclusion (a bad bite), abnormal enamel wear, trouble speaking and chewing, as well as toothaches and jaw pain. If Dr. Call notices any of these problems in your annual dental examination, he can recommend an orthodontic procedure, like Invisalign, to help.

Invisalign is wonderful for both adults and teens who would like straighter teeth without the hassle, pain, and appearance of traditional metal braces. While the aligners should be worn for most of the day, your trays can be removed for eating and brushing your teeth, as well as for special occasions and playing sports. Far less obvious than metal orthodontics that cut and poke your cheeks, most people will typically not know that you are wearing your Invisalign trays.

how does invisalign work?

The initial set of Invisalign trays will be created using digital impressions at Oakridge Dental. When they are ready, you will come back to receive your first set of trays with instructions from Dr. Call. You will need to keep your aligners in at least 20 – 22 hours every day for the system to work, ideally removing them only for eating and cleaning. In time, you'll move to the next set of trays as they carefully shift your teeth closer to proper alignment. You should have follow-ups around every 4 – 6 weeks at Oakridge Dental to have your aligning trays assessed and to have new digital impressions done so your next set of trays can be made. How long you need to use Invisalign will vary, depending on the initial position of your teeth and your goals; however, many patients wear their trays for around a year.

As soon as your teeth are aligned, it's crucial to prevent them from shifting back into their original positions. Invisalign's Vivera retainers are crafted using the same comfortable materials to keep your teeth in place once your treatment is done. Each retainer is custom made at the Invisalign dental lab based on impressions taken once your treatment is complete. Dr. Call will tell you how often to wear your retainer and go over proper ways to clean it once it is sent from the laboratory. He will continue to monitor the alignment of your teeth and bite during your dental examinations to make sure your teeth stay in their new positions.
