"Brian Call is a great dentist. I've known him for many years and fully trust him with my teeth. His practice has grown over the years but his caring attitude has never changed, he's great."- D.G. / Google / Dec 06, 2022
"The hygienists are all friendly and well trained, and I usually see Dr. Jackson for my dentist. I bring my toddler there too, and regardless if the appointment is for her or for myself, the staff is accepting and friendly towards both of us, which is so relieving. My appointments usually go smoothly and quickly, but for the longer work, they let you watch shows on a TV mounted to the ceiling."- E.S. / Google / Dec 02, 2022
"We love going to Oakridge Dental. Super nice, clean and friendly. Staff is wonderful and always helpful and cheerful. Back office hygienist’s are awesome. All so nice. Dr. Call is super nice and always remembers something about you. We have been going to him for years and so glad we do. Not to mention that their office is close and convenient. Thanks for all you guys do"- A.J. / Google / Nov 30, 2022
"This was my first time at Oakridge Dental and I couldn't have be happier! The front desk was so helpful and my hygienist-Taylor was fantastic! She was very thorough and explained each step of what was being done. I would highly recommend."- R.J. / Google / Nov 25, 2022
"I was impressed with how informative and thorough they were. In addition to that, I felt like I was a person that they were wanting to take care of rather than just a number to get in and out the door. This was how much better experience than I have had in the past few years at other dentists"- G.C. / Google / Nov 21, 2022
WHO QUALIFIES FOR PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY?
One thing we often hear is that dental care for children isn't necessary until the "baby teeth" have grown out. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Making sure that your child has a strong start when it comes to their oral health will help them develop good dental habits that see them through their lives. Staying on top of your child's oral health can prevent a multitude of dental issues down the road and ensure that their permanent teeth grow in healthily. Without routine visits, a child's oral health can deteriorate without detection and cause serious health issues.
According to the AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry), a baby should attend their first dental exam no later than their first birthday or as soon as their first tooth erupts. This generally gives our team enough time to catch any oral health issues that your baby may have and go over an effective dental regimen for you and your baby as they transition into their toddler years. Younger children and teens alike will benefit from pediatric dental care. The specific needs of your child will vary greatly, depending on their age, personal oral hygiene habits, and the condition of their dental health.
WHAT DOES PEDIATRIC DENTAL CARE INVOLVE?
Many issues and conditions can be addressed during your child's dental appointment. Normally, a young patient's visit will comprise of a dental exam and a professional teeth cleaning. After their cleaning, a fluoride treatment may be given to strengthen the enamel as the teeth develop. Additionally, dental sealants are often suggested to minimize tooth cavities and decay in the hard-to-reach crevices in the back teeth (called the molars and pre-molars). Dr. Call may also address teeth that are already showing signs of decay or are chipped, damaged, or broken by creating a successful treatment plan. Eventually, your child may require orthodontics to straighten their teeth and align their bite, which can help to prevent future dental problems. It is during this time that Dr. Call can go over your options if you wish to obtain protective mouth wear for your child if they are active in sports, like football, martial arts, and other activities.
If Dr. Call finds a problem during your child's dental examination or cleaning, we may arrange a follow-up appointment for any necessary treatments. After their exam, Dr. Call will speak with you and your child about the most crucial parts of an oral hygiene routine: daily brushing and flossing. Dr. Call or a member of his team will also demonstrate techniques on the proper way to floss and brush to avoid dental issues.
To properly address certain cases that require sedation or other specialized types of care, we collaborate with the top pediatric dentists in the area. Because we have spent years developing relationships with fellow professionals in and around Farmington, UT and Davis County, we can provide a team approach that suits you and your family.
