"Oakridge Dental is wonderful! I have some sensitive spots on my gum line that can hurt during and after a cleaning, not at Oakridge Dental. Their hygienists are so good. My teeth felt great. Dr. Call is professional and fun. Nothing beats ending a cleaning with a fresh chocolate chip cookie."- J.S. / Google / Oct 21, 2018
"I had a very pleasant experience. They had me go back shortly after arrival, I had a stellar dental hygienist, and the Dentist was excellent. I was in and out in 45 minutes and felt like I had a high-quality cleaning and experience. Sure, maybe I'm a pushover b/c I didn't have any cavities, but it was great. I was even given a cookie on my way out."- J.A. / Google / Sep 21, 2019
"Every six months I routinely go in for my teeth cleaning. Every visit has been a pleasure. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. I get good advise that has improved my dental health and kept me cavity-free for years. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a really good dentist and staff. Dr Call is the best. But don't challenge him to a foot race. He is pretty fast!"- R.A. / Google / Oct 21, 2018
"I went in for a regular cleaning. Very friendly staff. I’m a pretty shy person & all staff made me feel at ease. We had some great conversation & I learned things that I hadn’t about toothbrushes & teeth in general. I appreciated their effort to put me at ease. Both Dr Call & Natalie we’re quick & thorough. Natalie was awesome to talk to. Great cookie as a takeaway treat. 😃 We are looking into moving our kids from their current dentist after both my husband & I having great experiences here."- H.L. / Google / Oct 21, 2018
WHO NEEDS DENTAL CLEANINGS?
Patients of all ages can benefit from receiving regular dental cleanings. At Oakridge Dental, we advise our patients to receive professional teeth cleanings no fewer than twice a year; however, some patients may require these cleanings more frequently. Getting biannual dental cleanings is in accordance with the recommendations of the ADA (American Dental Association). Infants should have their first dental exam before they turn one, and following that, Dr. Call or a trained hygienist on his team will help you determine when your child should return for their next appointment. Since dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar, the primary causes of tooth decay, your chances of developing cavities can be dramatically reduced. If you’d like to brighten your smile, freshen your breath, boost your health, and avoid spending money on more expensive treatments, schedule a professional cleaning for yourself and every member of your family at Oakridge Dental.
HOW ARE TEETH CLEANINGS DONE?
A professional cleaning will start by removing the plaque and tartar buildup from your enamel, which can be hard to remove at home, no matter how thoroughly and often you brush and floss. Special tools are used to scale buildup without harming the tooth. First, an ultrasonic device addresses large chunks of plaque and tartar with a lubricating mist and high-speed vibrations. Next, handheld tools (such as a scaler or curette) will be used to remove smaller pieces. Each tooth will be treated individually to get all the buildup. Once the teeth are clean, your enamel will be carefully polished to remove stains. If needed or requested, a fluoride treatment can be given following the cleaning.
Dr. Call or one of our hygienists may recommend cleanings more often if you have certain oral health concerns that require regular attention and maintenance treatments, such as periodontal disease. During your cleaning, Dr. Call or an assistant on his team will help you design a home routine for good oral health by demonstrating techniques or recommending products that can focus on your concerns. These can be advantageous for your teeth, wallet, and overall health so make sure you attend your dental cleanings at Oakridge Dental.
